VIPs at The League Against Cruel Sports
Our VIP ambassadors are passionate about protecting animals and wildlife and help us with our work and raise awareness of our causes.
Bill OddieLeague Patron
We are proud that Bill Oddie, OBE, the nation’s best-known birder and multi-talented celebrity, wildlife presenter, broadcaster, writer, songwriter, musician and conservationist is our Patron.
Bill has been our Patron for many years, and we are extremely appreciative for everything he does to help us raise awareness of the barbarity of cruel ‘sports’ in our modern world.
“If the League Against Cruel Sports didn’t exist, I’d have started it myself.”
- Bill Oddie, OBE, President of the League Against Cruel Sports
Megan McCubbinAmbassador
I am delighted to be a League Ambassador. I am truly honoured to be part of such a dedicated team and to help tackle some of the worst acts of wildlife cruelty in the UK. However, it is also a shame that such a position must exist in the modern day. I am a zoologist and wildlife TV presenter with a particular interest in animal welfare and the wildlife trade.
I will work tirelessly with the League to campaign for tighter legislations to better protect species from cruelty. It’s an issue so close to my heart and I am a firm believer that we must understand and love something first before we begin protecting it. The passion and determination at the League is unwavering and that’s why I’m truly honoured to be a League Ambassador.
Vanessa-MaeAmbassador
We are delighted to welcome Vanessa-Mae as Ambassador for the League. As a world famous violinist, Olympian and brave animal welfare campaigner, Vanessa-Mae brings her strong and credible voice to our team. Vanessa-Mae says:
“There is nothing sporting about watching innocent animals run or fight for their lives. As Ambassador for the League Against Cruel Sports, I urge everybody to help us support an end to the use of animals in cruel sports.”
Michaela StrachanCelebrity Supporter
Michaela Strachan is a well-known BAFTA award-winning television presenter, author and public speaker best known for her appearances on Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch as well as Countryfile.
Michaela says: “I am horrified at what some dogs have been through. Using dogs for dog fighting is unbelievably cruel and brutal, hunting and racing until the dog has no use is incredibly sad.”
Mark CurryCelebrity Supporter
Mark is an easily recognisable actor as well as television and radio presenter, we are very glad of his support and commitment to our aims of ending cruel sports.
Mark says: “As a tennis player and commentator, I believe sport should bring people together, no matter their status or background. Countryside pursuits like hunting and shooting do the exact opposite, dividing people by causing a nuisance to anyone not on their team as well as inflicting unnecessary pain on animals. I hope that I can use my platform to bring an end to these cruel and divisive hobbies”
